Organization structure of the ALL

Postby actionismygod on Wed Nov 04, 2009 3:15 am

Hi, I am curious as to how the ALL is organized. I want to know especially if it is owned by an individual or a group of individuals or if it is member-owned with some sort of democratic process such as assemblies and referendums or a president. I see various committees . I am curious to know how these committees were formed- were they elected? Were they appointed? Can just anyone declare themselves a committee in the name of the ALL? Is the website privately owned? Does the ALL as a group have any real control over it? Questions, questions, questions... Thanks!

From my experience, anarchist doesn't for the most part organize in the classical sense of the word. I've certainly never done so and many other people I know of doesn't do so either.

Usually it works out like this:
Someone or some people create a concept, other people find out about the concept and likes it and decides embrace the concept and adapt a sort of identity that embraces said concept in some way, then someone or some people proposes something, anyone(no matter what that person may identify as) who likes the proposition and has the possibility and will to do something joins in on the action, others do not...

I suppose one can say that the ALL is a concept and I suppose you could categorize a concept but I have never heard of organizing a concept!

The ALL was intended to be Ad Hoc. A group may organise how they wish and may do so under the ALL label if their ideas match up with those generally proposed by the ALL.

The ALL is pretty much just a group of somewhat like-minded people who have decided to call themselves ALL members. The closest thing to organization would be the locals, which are listed on the home page (all-left.net). As far as ownership goes, the ALL is actually descended from people who split from the Movement of the Libertarian Left when it was declared that the MLL's ideas were the property of a single person (or something like that  ), so no one claims any sort of ownership over the ALL.

But clearly there is an owner of ALL if it is only a concept, because it is a concept that (as far as I can tell) is controlled by a website. If there is no referendum to the general membership on the changes, the owner is clearly the webmaster(s), no?

My dilemma is that I am a mutualist and, though I believe in free markets, I find it unutilitarian as an individual to organize in any manner other than direct-democracy. I'm tired of organizing with lazy and dogmatic anarcho-communists, though.

Yeah its more like a fraternity here. I have met up with people from these forums before and it was a cool experience.

Honestly, I don't know who organized the ALL site.
